Sayes Studio is an Auckland-based architecture practice specializing in residential new builds and renovations. Led by Henri Sayes, the practice has become known for how it marries clear logic and function with light-filled, smile-inducing moments to create generous, comfortable spaces that clients love to live in.

Regardless of whether the brief is for a large bespoke house, a compact heritage extension, or multi-unit development, Sayes Studio approaches each project with enthusiasm and intention.

Enthusiasm, because what you might see as a tangle of constraints, we see as an opportunity that simply needs to be unraveled, and that is endlessly exciting to us. And intention, because while there may be a million ways to solve a problem, by deeply understanding our clients, the project and the site, we are committed to getting it right, to make something beautiful as well as functional, good for our environment as well as good value.

Founded in 2016, Sayes Studio has won five Auckland Architecture Awards, as well as a covetable New Zealand architecture Award twice (Sawtooth Apartment + Brick House). The firm’s projects have been published in international and local media including Dwell (USA), Habitus Living (AUS), Home NZ, Urbis, Architecture New Zealand.

Henri Sayes

Henri Sayes founded Sayes Studio in 2016. Practicing for over 12 years’, Henri brings deep expertise in villa and bungalow renovations, new builds and bespoke multi-residential to Sayes Studio. Having built two architectural homes for himself, he has huge empathy and respect for his clients.

Henri holds a degree in architecture from the University of Auckland where he has also been tutoring design since 2019.
